I think they developed something more then just a friendship during filming. Seriously how did this not win best score. This movie was so beautiful. Best movie I've seen in a long time. Those slow moments were some of the best moments. Ohhh he look so nervous with his speech. When he called Oliver Elio and Oliver called elio Oliver I broke down into tears. 11:20 that gaze thought ! I was wondering where have I seen it from, then I figure it out (spoiler) it the same gaze Oliver gave to elio at the train station when he looked out from the window of the train, it's the same look. Tchhh. This movie made me lose interest in my life, i was so captivated that even after 4 days, its still on my mind and cant help getting misty eyed.

If you watch the moment Elio says I miss you., he touches his hand to his body - I know it's Timothee acting, but that's classic body language for self-comfort - as if hugging oneself to feel safe or to provide oneself with support. Perhaps it subconsciously Elio misses being held by Oliver and combined the sound of his lover's voice with the sensation of being held. Whatever it is, we've all been there and it's devastating. The moment you remind yourself whenever a character says 'I know nothing' that a love scene is coming. Heartbreaking... The second time i watched this movie i scribbled in my journal this scenes whole conversation and i didnt regret doing it.

I feel like this wouldve worked better near the beginning just after they first kissed also the whole thing with his girlfriend shouldve ended the moment he kissed Oliver I hated that he still had sex with her later. This scene says so much by saying so little. It's so perfect.

You know what things. Is that a shirt w timothees face on it. i need it. I dont regret getting this for a moment and the sound effects are very realistic. The best part of this movie is that we were not forced to watch some pace destroying, forced, gratuitous love story that hollywood like to present. So happy and Sad in the same time.😭😭💓💓💓.

I laughed when he said someone in between like literally although the movie is best and hattsoff to this guy for writing such an amazing storyline. James Ivory stared his career by making a number of wonderful movies set in India with his professional and later domestic partner Ismail Merchant, they later transitioned to Academy award winning Classics under Merchant and Ivory Productions. This movie is special to him. Because in his life he was never open about being homosexual and by writing this screenplay he remembered how deeply he loved Ismail Merchant and saw this as an opportunity to break free from the restrictions to pure love. All the people he once loved are gone now. Yet this triumph is more important than ever.

Thinking back to the father's monologue, doesn't that tell us about the great obstacle to Elio's desire and love for Oliver? How his father recommended not to tear that kind of feeling from his heart, instead nurture it. For that matter, Elio was faced with to speak or to die, and then to admit to Oliver not knowing about the things that matter. And then their 6 short weeks together was an obstacle. I'm afraid the review is looking for some kind of punishment on these two for loving each other, but that isn't the kind of obstacle the story included. I recommend buying the audio book to better understand that. It is amazing.
